Implementation of Large Cardamom cultivation (Pilot Project) at Hliappui village:
In our endeavors’ to popularize and promote commercial cultivation of Large Cardamom in Mizoram, the Society has implemented a pilot project on cultivation of Large Cardamom (Sawney variety) at Hliappui village in Saitual district with the technical support from Spices Board of India. The Society has procured 8000 No’s of Large Cardamom saplings from the certified nursery of Spices Board of India at Nagaland. The Saplings are planted in 2 hectare of private land at Hliappui village during the month of June 2026. Total expenditure incurred by the society towards this project is amounting to Rs. 2,85,700/- till date.
Through this remarkable venture, the Society has experienced in practical towards the challenges, prospects and economic potential in terms of it’s several natural advantages, suitable for sustainable climate-resilient farming, enhancement of rural livelihood, employment generation, value addition opportunities, export marketing potential, Integration with Government Programmes in future and its excellent long-term economic prospects due to the district's favorable agro-climatic conditions, availability of suitable hill land and compatibility with sustainable agro-forestry systems. The Society is well prepared to venture cultivation in larger scale through PPP mode on the basis of fund availability for the same from State/ Central government and other agencies.
